Behind Me

The major pitfall of writing, as in any other profession, though probably emphasized more in the arts, is the “I complex”. I did this. I wrote that.

If you’re not careful you can start believing you’re the best thing to ever happen to paper. The worst offense I can think of is someone saying it’s a way of “playing God”. Believe me, it’s the furthest thing from that even if anyone could.

To write believable fiction, you must obey the laws of nature. Even science fiction has to have a core of believability. It’s like the person doing magic. The only reason he or she can pull the rabbit out of the hat is because you believe it’s in there.
