Behind Me

I love The Velveteen Rabbit. But I keep forgetting the author’s name. That’s how I want my books to be.

The story is what’s important.

I don’t like seeing the author’s name above the title. I don’t like wadding through pages of praise getting to the text. What if after finishing the book I don’t like it? What’s wrong with me? Or am I being pre-programmed to like before I read?

Thank you Margery Williams. I might forget your name, but I’ll never forget your story.*

*In the first draft, I left off the s in Williams. Think that made the point.

About John Northcutt Young

I write. Remember making-up stories from spelling words in the fifth grade. A journalism degree followed. Thanks for looking.
